2006 Honda Civic Si Coupe
Here is the first commercial I've seen (2005.09.29) for the brand new 2006 Honda Civic Si Coupe. Finally, after 15 years since the CRX...the Civic returns to its pocket rocket roots!

Now if Honda could release this in a 150-200kilowatt drivetrain lithium-ion battery powered plug-in series hybrid (25hp multi-fuel generator runs solely to charge the batteries of the all electric drivetrain beyond 150-200 mile battery only range if you can't find a place to charge)...then they'll really recapture their glory. Imagine $5 per 200mile cost of driving (charge in your garage) compared to $24 per 200mile cost with gas currently at $3 per gallon...0-60mph in the 4-5 second category...rarely if ever having to visit a gas station. 99% of most people's daily driving is less than 150miles which can be accomplished solely with electrons, more efficiently, more conveniently, and with far less pollution. The Civic-EV could also double as a backup power source for your house during extended power outages (50kwhr pack could provide a week's worth of home power). Alan sold Honda an AC propulsion EV converted CRX that would do 0-60mph in 5 seconds (and that was back in 1993!!!). Where are the electric cars? Forget these more complicated parallel gasoline hybrids that have little performance and are chained to the gasoline pump. Plug-in series hybrids (all EV drivetrains) is where it's at with the convenience of being fully charged every morning just like your cellphone. Please Honda, REALLY reverse our thinking and bring us the plug-in EVs!!!
