CRXPO 99 (Saturday) was Amazing!

I had a blast at the Saturday portion of CRXPO 99. I'm hoping Ted or Andy
can give us an official count. I heard we had a peak of 80 CRXs show up at
Laguna Seca.

The CRXPO 99 T-shirts are sweet! The back has the David Newman's
girlfriend's rendition of the CRX flier (Map of Cali draped over a White
CRX).

The short evening Convoy back to the Hampton Hotel saw us with about 73
CRXs. We ended up at the K-Mart parking lot for parking space reasons.
Amazing to see soooo many gorgeous CRXs! We color coordinated the convoy
with Reds up front, followed by Yellows, Tahitian Greens, Blues, Silvers,
Whites, and then Blacks.

I've taken about 300-400 (1600x1200dpi) digital pics. Need to start
processing them and get them posted!

Too bad I couldn't make Sunday's "17 mile drive"!

Maybe next year we can break 100 CRXs?;)

Drive safely everyone,

Stefano

We didn't take the 17-mile drive, but....

....HOLY SHIT that drive through the mountains was fun! About 18 of
us went ripping through some very twisty and steep back roads in the
mountains off of 68. A couple of the cars (Teds and a maroon DX) had
brake problems as well. It was a lot of fun coming down a hill at
75mph and having to haul it down to 35 or so for a hairpin turn.

During the drive up to the backroads, we had some concerns with
Traci's car ("hopper")... While _ATTEMPTING_ to keep up with the
swirly-striped TG CRX, screwed up her ignitor and had to pull off to
the side of the road for a while. We got her temporarily fixed up so
she could continue the drive with us. Thanks for being a sport in
your attempts to keep up, Traci ;-)

The drive was a blast though, took one or two pics (wasn't much chance
to take pics with all that white-nuckle driving) of the spirited
drive. I even got air once when I didn't obey a "ROUGH ROAD" sign and
came around a turn with the front wheels off the ground. All of my
pics from today (along with some from yesterday) are in my disk5
directory...

Enjoy, all..... Have a safe trip back home!

Just want to say I had the time of my life at the xpo this week-end.
Special thanks to Keegan at the ba-fbody page who followed our convoy and
made fun of us in his Firehawk with lots of reving. He ended up showing up
at the kmart where all the crx's ended up and told me of where the locals
go to drag. So later that night me, and Brian and James of HAS went out
and showed the locals just what crx's were made of before the cops came
and broke it up. It was killer. I ended up purchasing some slicks today
from a fellow crx. Where is it going to end? And I haven't even run the
nitrous yet on my car although I was really tempted. Next week-end at
Sac? Well see.

And, boy am I already missing it. That was a great time. The only
downside to the whole weekend was my beautiful tan/sunburn I received on my
neck & forehead, and on my way to the street races to run my LS/VTEC
against a suped up turbo MR2, one of my O2 sensors popped out and my
exhaust sounded like a straight drag car with no power (don't ask how it
came out). I took a good 2 rolls of picts which should be up by the middle
of this week. Also one a prize: Craziest Performance mod to a CRX. I
guess everyone like my LS/VTEC Frankenstein setup. Who would know that it
would be original, go figure :-P

Cruising with everyone and eating at Round Table was also fun. Everyone,
and I mean EVERYONE was giving Ricky a hard time about his swirls (I seemed
to be doing the most talking :-) and now we can either refer to him as
"Swirl-Master" or "Swirly-boy," your choice. Our crazy/twisty/25 mph speed
limit road drive was fun. I noticed that we were hitting close to 60 mph
at many times. Pretty crazy but then again, all CRX owners are a bit
crazy. Can't wait to see all those picts that everyone took. For those of
you who missed out, I'm sorry that you did and to make it up, you have to
go next year. You won't be disapointed.

Now, I can finally get some real sleep :-)
